6.5 Creedmoor Lapua Brass Primer Issues

I was thinking of getting Lapua brass for my 6.5 creedmoor but the small primer pocket and flash hole has me worried. I have a Hornady press and will buy Hornady dies but how do you prime and deprime with these odd cases? Thanks for any help.

You buy pins for a BR case or something similar.

I deprimer using a Sinclair universal doe with small pins. Then I use Redding does with the small pin as well if I ever need too.

By doe did you mean die? Or have I missed something.

I use a Harvey deprimer for all my Lapua brass. I like to clean the grit off the cases and the flash hole before I run them through a die.

I just use a hammer and a Wilson Punch/Base for ALL my brass. I actually have no idea why anybody deprimes in the die.

I punch out primers, clean the brass and pockets all at once, and my dies only eat clean casings.

I use a Lee depriming die before cleaning the brass. No problems with Lapua or Peterson SRP brass.

Really? Pretty obvious why someone would do that, it combines two steps into one.

Yes, but you have to make a choice. You can feed your dies clean brass, but get primer residue all over the bottom of the press and leave the primer pockets dirty (or....ADD a process!). If you don't like that, you can feed your press AND dies dirty brass and then tumble once to get clean casings and pockets.

Thanks for the advice. So can I then prime with any small primer tool? Wouldn't all the shell holders for the 6.5 be large primer?

You can run either primer size through any shell holder.
