I posted this in the gunsmithing section several days ago but have had no hits yet. I am just about done with my 6.5cm barrel except for final reaming of the gas port. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good size to start with? If not then I will start small and keep yall posted. Thanks.

Rifle length gas system? Adjustable gas block?

If you're not running an adjustable gas block I'd probably start at about .082" and work from there.

If you're running an adjustable gas block I'd probably go about .095" since the fine tuning will be done with the block.

My 24 inch dpms 260 barrel is right around .080 and i had to have my 18 260 barrel drilled to .082. Like kiba said i would start there if you go adjustable gas block. If you dont run an adjustable block then a little smaller.

Thanks guys. I was thinking just under .080 for starters. It is a rifle length gas system and a 25 inch barrel. I have an adjustable gas block as well for fine tuning. I will post the results and range report soon. Thanks again just needed to hear it from others.
