Hello All,

New member to this forum but ive been lurking for a few years. I'm starting a 6.5 creedmor ar10 build. I pretty much have everything aside from the buffer tube, buffer, and buffer spring. I tried searching but could not find an answer so i'm reaching out for some advice.

Below are all the rifle components I have.

DPMS pattern Aero Precision receiver set
ballistic advantage 20" rifle length barrel
SLA Adjustable Gas block
Odin Works Atlas 6.5 barrel comp
Magpul PRS Gen 3 stock
Magpul MOE Grip

I have a magpul PRS Gen 3 stock I would like to run. I know i need a rifle length/ A2 buffer tube but i need help with choosing a proper buffer and buffer spring as i know those are very important to making sure the rifle cycles properly. Thanks for the input.

DPMS pattern, 20" barrel

Tubb flatwire, with a kak 5 tungsten (build it yourself) buffer. Great for longer or beefier barrels with spicy reloads.

adding a side note: I have a 28" Straight barrel with rifle length gas. For those circumstances I need as much lock time as possible since I reload and want the brass to not die/have issues. In doing so with the above combination, I still have only 2.5 clicks open on the gas block (out of 15), and it cycles great. If I could stick a brick back there with the buffer, I would...

What I run in mine... PSA PA10/65's, rifle stocked, DPMS Pattern carbine ( short AR15 buffer tube and 2.5" buffer ) and the Armalite pattern carbine stock ( Vltor A5 length buffer tube and AR15 3.25" buffer )

A lot of large frame AR's tend to be ( IMHO ) overgassed.... mine have all been. BA, FN, Criterion, PSA barrels all have benefitted from these parts... ( and Adj. GB's... so consider one of those as well. )

But... to answer the question on hand...

So basically Tubbs .308 Flatwire in everything.

Note the various parts do not inter change.
This link shows some of the differences...https://www.ar15.com/forums/industr...buffer-system-length-on-the-PA10-/301-286585/

Tubbs .308 Flatwire recoil spring. Fits every stock length and pattern. ( Cheapest I have found )
https://www.larue.com/products/tubbs-buffer-spring-ar10-sr-25-buffer-springs/

,

Rifle stocked A2 buffer tube
Tubbs .308 Flatwire
KAK 9.3oz .308 rifle length buffer. ( Use coupon "thanks2019" over the Memorial Day weekend )
https://www.kakindustry.com/lr-308-parts/308-lower-parts/kak-308-rifle-buffer-heavy

.
DPMS pattern carbine stock... ( AR15 carbine receiver extension ( buffer tube ) , and 2.5" buffer )
Tubbs .308 Flatire
KAK 5.4oz 2.5" buffer ... ( Use coupon "thanks2019" over the Memorial Day weekend )
https://www.kakindustry.com/lr-308-parts/308-lower-parts/lr308-carbine-buffer-heavy

.
Armalite / Vltor A5 buffer tube length...
Tubbs .308 Flatwire
H3 3.25" AR15 carbine buffer

And if you have a Magpul "MOE, CTR, STR, ACS and UBR Gen I" stock ... I whole heartedly recommend one of these recoil pads.

Or for the USGI AR-15/M4 collapsible type stock...

And are you going to run a Adj. GB ? ... and muzzle brake ?

More specifics will help us answer better.

Rifle build details, please.... barrel brand ? Gas length ?

I’d look at the Area 419 muzzle brakes. I’m pulling my Seekins off to get one of theirs.

Also, look at the Seekins ProComp stock. Not sure if you want to lighter vs the Magpul.

JP BCG and Silent capture spring.

Check out the Ergo Tactical Deluxe grip and their new vertical version.

One other thing I have been looking at is the Law Tactical folding mechanism. Looks pretty awesome.

Just some thoughts. Take them or leave. There are so many options. ARs are like Baskin Robins and their 30+ flavors.
