6.5 Grendel and CCI 400 primers not compatible?

I'm reloading 6.5 Grendel (Lapua brass) and trying to use CCI 400 primers, but there's an issue. The primers don't seem to fit. They are too tight. I have to use so much force to get them into the primer pocket that I'm crushing the primers. And even then, I can't get them to seat 100% of the way in. I've used the same brass with Federal BR primers and had no problem. The CCI primers fit fine in my .223 cases.

Are the CCI primers much harder? Are the 6.5 Grendel pockets tighter? Anyone else have this problem?

I have been using either Remington 7 1/2, or CCI450 primers in my Grendels..and they work just fine. I haven't tried the 400's even though I have about a thousand of them downstairs. Maybe I'll measure a few and see if there is a difference.

I've been using CCI400's exclusively so far. I don't have the hard seating issues you're having though.

No issues with the CCI's doing that. I have had issues with the Wolf SR primers being a bit on the large side for small primer pockets.

Edit:

You might want to take one of those Lyman primer pocket uniformers and see how tight the pocket is vs. the primer size.
