So here's the question...has anyone gotten the Grendel to run with a piston setup? I am aware of the DI vs. Piston stuff, but want piston. I'm hoping Scott will chime in on this, but have any of you seen/built one?

Re: 6.5 Grendel...piston?

Everything I read leans towards the DI guns being more accurate than piston versions--I own 1 piston upper but is 556---would love to hear from the major league smiths here on the HIDE regarding this subject

I see no problem running a Grendel on a piston setup---Bill Alexander has done it as I am sure others have, but with a longrange cartridge. I want all the inherent accuracy possible---IMHO piston AR setups are for suppressed SBR weapons

Scott and a select few here have stellar results with 6.5 Creedmor POF's which are piston guns, though on the ar10 ----I have not heard of anyone yet running a precision AR15 piston rifle in 6.5 Grendel---perhaps GAP or Scott or any of the veterans here will enlighten us

Re: 6.5 Grendel...piston?

DI's are no more accurate that pistons.
I believe Bill Alexander even ran some tests to confirm.
The biggest drawback of pistons is weight from my experience.
I have a piston on a 20" AR SDM and it is accurate as hell.
