6.5 PRC Build Help

I have built quite a few gas guns and am looking for a different challenge. This winter I want to build a 6.5 PRC rifle. I know that I want to use a Defiance Machine Deviant XM Tactical action and I will probably have them add the trigger tech trigger. The chassis I want to use is an MDT ACC chassis. Most likely I want to buy a 26-28" heavy barrel. I want to use 10 round mags. Who's bottom metal should I buy? What mags? What barrel maker? I was leaning towards Preferred Barrel Blanks but am open to opinions on maker and contour. What tools will I need beside Go/No Go gauge? What type of vice block? My intention with this rifle is to hunt prairie dogs and coyotes. I was also thinking about owning more of a traditional stock in addition to the chassis so that I could swap out the chassis if I want to lighten it up. I don't have a budget.

I too am interested in building a 6.5 prc rifle, am curious to what others think about it. I was looking at building a creedmoor but decided to go with prc.

-Krieger stainless barrel = 4 groove, 1-8 twist, #4 contour, finished at 24"
-Defiance XM BDL floor plate kit
-McMillan Rem Hunter stock
-Jewell trigger

I built a 6.5 PRC last winter. It shoots great and I am very happy with it.
Archimedes short action
PVA 26" MTU barrel (Rock Creek) 1:8 twist
Triggertech Diamond
MDT ACC Chassis

The barrel was shouldered. Screw it on and torque it. I used a chassis so no bottom metal. I use MDT WSM 10 round mags and they work great. I use a viper barrel vise and an action wrench from American Rifle Company. I added weight to my rifle weighing in at 18lbs.

I talked too straight jacket yesterday and I think I am going with the 6.5 cm....ammo more accessible, lighter recoil for what I want to do. Thanks for the help.

Check out bugholes.com.......he has a great selection of barrels.

You may have to order direct from Krieger/Bartlein......anything guns is in high demand right now!!
