Wanting a suggestion for a match bullet for my new 6.5 PRC. Not an ELR match, just general PRS style. I know PRC is not optimal for PRS style matches, but the dasher is getting a new tube screwed on, so the PRC is getting the nod for the next match. Trying to decide whether to stomp on a lighter bullet or shoot something heavy. Thanks for the help!

I would say this depends on your ability to call wind. Good at wind calls I would go a lighter bullet and everything in close is fairly flat with little wind but at distance will matter. Not so good at wind calls run a heavier round. More time to get there but less drift ideally but also heavier recoil...then again it’s a prc so recoil no matter what. Run the numbers through a ballistics calculator out to 1k and pick what you like

You can’t hit the full potential of the 130’s due to velocity restrictions. Any of the 140’s can be shot with a slow powder at a decent speed and they don’t have a ton of recoil with a good brake. Still more recoil than most anything else other cats shoot, but it’ll shoot flat and there will be no argument when you smash steel!

If your rolling your own I’d run the Sierra 142 or 150. I run the 150’s now out of my cm and see 2750-2760 velocities out of a 26”. I bet right at or just under 3k FPS with a 150 is possible and not torch your barrel

Sierra 150 MK works great out of mine. They are going 2983 out a 26 inch barrel. They hammer. They shoot good over 3000. But I don’t see the need to shoot that bullet over 3k.

^thats what I love to hear. I’m got about 900 of them at home and my prc is being built. Only down side is it’s built as a hunting gun ( carbon barrel) so probably won’t see any(or very very limited) competition use
