It's baisically an RCM case (ruger compact mag, parent case is 375 ruger) which is a tad slimmer than the wsm/saum cases. The wsm/saum AR10's were on the ragged edge of durability due to bolt issues and i'm not sure anyone's making parts for them anymore. I always thought an RCM case cut down to 308 length would be a better way to go for an AR10 magnum, but everytime a manufacturer uses that case for something they make it juuuust out of reach for the AR10 platform.

From what I see the OAL is too long at 2.9+ when ar10 mags dont go past 2.87 at the max, and most are about 2.84... why get so close? I guess you could massage it in, but how much MV would you give up and when I think semis, I think people are more likely to be shooting commercial ammo.
There are manufacturers that make winchester short mag and saum chambering s as well as many other calibers that will work on a standard dpms or Arma lite upper. Check out Accuracy Systems website. Carl can build you an upper in a variety of calibers. The SAUM case is better suited to work in standard mags. Saum cases are shorter, allowing longer bullets, and the case walls are thicker preventing case bulge/sticking in chamber. However, if you want a big caliber in an AR that is affordable and sub moa check out Noreen firearms bn36 long range assassin rifles!25-06, 270,30-06,7mm mag, 300 winmag, and 338 lapua.

Converting a large frame upper for a short magnum requires milling the upper ejection port to open it up for the fatter case, and special attention to modifying the barrel extension feed ramps for proper feeding. 308/7mm/6.5 standard feed ramps are to far from center and not low enough. The 308 high pressure bolt has to be machined to accept the .535 case dia. Extractors can be a weak point if not properly machined and clearance is not adequate on barrel extension lugs. Also you can only fit 4 rounds in a ten round magazine.
The cases are already the same length more or less. Basically a 260 rem with a wider body.
I was doing a bit of reading on this scenario and there's a theme emerging about the volume of gas produced and the AR10 platforms ability to handle it. Can these new bleed-off gas blocks help in that regard? Maybe in conjunction with say a rifle +2 or 3 gas length?
