Ordered a Tikka T3X CTR 24" barrel and it is 1/8" twist.
I will load it only with VV powder, because i am from Finland and VV is the powder i can easily have.
Is here any one who has done loading for 6.5PRC with VV powder.
I have now N150, N160 and N555 and N165 coming.
On the bullets i have Scenar 123gr and L-Scenar 136gr and 139gr.
Also Lapua 144gr FMJ coming, and then i also have few hundred A-Tip 153gr.

you want N170, N565 or N568 / N570 for a PRC and heavies. The powders you listed have faster burn rates and will not work very good in the PRC with heavier bullets. I have not run the lighter bullets so I cannot speak to those.

You will have substantially lower velocity using N568 and the 139's vs using N565. The N565 will out shine the others with the 153's.

Primal Rights did a youtube video using VV and I believe 153 A-Tips.

It's not that I didn't like it... it's just that it runs a little slow for a SAAMI chamber 6.5PRC on a short action with a 2.950 max OAL. I think it would have more success in a mid length. It also runs really close to other powders tested, so I saved myself some redundancy. :)

Okay but what about N170 ,isn't it a faster burner ? Thanks for responding

I have some. Only tried it with 153.5 Bergers. Might work better with 140 class. I ran 570 too and it shot well but I think 565 is better for the 6.5 prc. I am putting another one together soon. I have everything just been focused on our 6GTs. I will be running either 144s or 142s.

I'm running low on the N565 ,but have read that N170 is real close to H1000 burn rate. Picked up a couple LBs of N170 .So we will see .

I'd be gobsmacked if 570 didn't give you a little more velocity than anything else out there. Much as we like to see reloading as art, it is basically math and science, and that leads you to n570/rl33 class powders with heavy bullets. It was built around rl26, but you can reach pressure easily before you reach case fill with it, so sometimes there are a couple of powders that work a bit better. This is certainly the case for 300 PRC, and should be for 6.5 PRC as well.

I have a problem.
Not that it is from the powder, but it is of the quantity of the type of the rating.
In Finland we can have only 4,4lbs of total gun powder at once in in household.
Fucking EU shit......
I have now some L-Scenar 136gr ammo made with close of the powder on Vihtavuori for a A-Tip 135gr.
Also did a test group of 139gr with N555.
I have never loaded ammo with so SLOW powder as im doing now.
I think i need to change my mind on the powder´s.
Normally i have used N120 up to N150.
So we are moving in to a totally different level now.
Thanks guys.

just purchased a 6.5prc barrel on here yesterday. Walked into a gun store in a nearby town i had never been in before and they had an 8lb jug of n570 so i bought it and think i'll give it a try. They also had a couple jugs of 565, but i passed on them. We'll see how it works out shortly. I've got 140's and 153.5's i can use and that store also had about half a dozen 500 cnt boxes of 144's i may go back and snag a couple

Rl26 and vv560 are what I was able to get my hands on, and they are comfortably throwing 144 bergers 3075. This is also with Hornady brass so I doubt those poor primers will stand many firings however.

139gr Scenar doing 2800.
Feels a bit lame.
Im using N165 47,4gr.
N570 would give 2930.
But winter and N500 powders, i dont have a good memories on those.
Nitroglycerine powders dont work well on low temps.

I’ve had good success with Hunter Hammer 124gr solids with N565 in a 24” Proof barrel. Running close to 3100fps in a short action.
These were four cold bore shots which stacked up pretty good:

Shouldn’t you be able to run quite a bit faster with the 124g Hammers in a 6.5PRC? I am starting to develop a load with those same bullets and am hoping to get 3500FPS. Every other Hammer bullet I’ve used has easily allowed me to run 150-200FPS over book max. I can’t argue with your accuracy, but for hunting I’d want a little more energy.

N560 got me 3370 fps with the 123gr Absolute Hammer in a 24” 6.5 PRC Proof Prefit.

I probably could push for more, but was starting to see some pressure signs on ADG brass, so stepped back to this load. I am using a GAP chamber in a short action.
