+1! Been waiting anxiously for them to hit the market.

Re: 6.5x284 in AX stock

Let me say, I'm very impressed with the fit and feel. It's not light but it looks lighter than the normal AICS stock.

I'll have it at the NRA show this coming weekend for anyone wanting to see and handle one. It shoots 142's at 3,000 out of a fairly long barrel (28") for tactical. I will eventually end up cerakoting the barrel but ran out of time. I've got a .338 to build yet by Wed.

This is the first public outing of our titanium receivers, the reason for the whole thing.

To own or just to mess around with before buying one ?

I would love to own one

Re: 6.5x284 in AX stock

Regarding the receivers, we have been manufacturing titanium receivers for 10 years now. About 2 years ago orders stopped coming in as that product was dropped from our customer's line.

We decided to start manufacturing our own and made improvements to the design that were sorely needed. The spec sheet is available on our website.

I don't want to turn this post into a commercial and run afoul of the hosts. I'll be glad to answer any private e-mails.

Re: 6.5x284 in AX stock

Slick build.

But, at the risk of sounding like an ass, as I look at the end of the hand guard, where the barrel exits, it looks like the barrel is off center and hanging low. On the action end of things, it looks like the barrel and receiver are centered in the hand guard, but no so on the muzzle end of the guard.

Is there some droop in the chassis? Or is the hand guard have flex to it? Or is that the way its built?

Or am I seeing things?

Even the action pic looks like the tang isn't tightened or something, something looks off.

Nice bolt "shaping' Tom! I gotta try one of your newer R700 triggers one of these days.

Re: 6.5x284 in AX stock

It's seated in there all the way. There is very little room for clearance with the ring that happens to go just over the recoil lug. I'm amazed at how close these things are built.

I see what you are saying but remember this...There are only a handful of these stocks done at this time. I know they are making lot's of tweaks as they anticipate the huge Gov't contract bid that comes up this year. I have a prototype as well that looks totally different in the chassis section.

I would just pass it off as that.

Re: 6.5x284 in AX stock

Saw and handled the rifle today at the NRA show in Pittsburgh. Set up is really nice. Fit and finish is quite fine!

The reciever used in the build is impressively light.

Will be waiting in line when the stock is released.

Tom is good guy to talk to as well.
