6.5x47 140 hybrid velocities

What velocities are you guys getting?
I'm getting 2906 avg over 27 rounds. Using 40.5 H4350

No, Haha. I was surprised too, SD was 10, 26 inch barrel. I was hitting steel at 790 and needed 4.7 mils. I'm fishing to see if anyone thinks this is unsafe or if my magnetospeed is wrong. I got slight cratering on the cci 450 primers I'm using.

I can give you the exact quickload pressure after work but I'm pretty sure that fps is in the shits gonna go boom range.

It does sound a little too fast with only 40.5gr H4350 and 140gr bullets. I ave 2880 with 41.7gr H4350 and 139 scenar and this load is on the hot side.

I thought my digital Lyman gen 6 auto throw scale was suspect, so I double checked every powder charge over my RCBS 505 beam scale before I loaded the cartridges i shot today. I've been having trouble with the Lyman recently, it lies sometimes about the actual powder weight.

They were roughly the same speed node. I found RL16 to be slightly less temp sensitive and more accurate with great ES/SD

Who is the barrel maker? How many grooves?

28.5" Border 1:8.5" 5R , 2735-2745fps with 37.1gr Varget.

26" Kreiger 1:8 4 groove, 2835fps with 42gr H4350.

No pressure in either as long as I keep 'em dry.

2720 out of a 26 inch Maddco, using 39 of H4350. Mild not wild, barrels last 3k and safe to shoot
fouled and hot anytime. Ridiculously long brass life using Amp Annealer between each firing.

I think my scale is messed up. Same load but now 100 degrees and getting 2849.

I had lower SDs at 2906. I saved one of my 2906 rounds, I'm going to pull the bullet and re weigh the powder when I get an fx120i in a couple months.

2800 with 140s is freaking fast!

I had a pretty fast barrel that was pushing 140 hybrids to 2880 for a short time and then down to about 2860. I knew I was pushing them hard though, and that's what I wanted to do. That barrel was smoked at around 2000 rounds. Now a days I'm running 140s at or just below 2800 and that works well, if I want velocity in the ballpark of 2900, I run 130s.

Just put on 47 26” barrel. 36.2 gr varget gets 2720 with 25 rounds down pipe with 140 hybrids. Should speed up some but looking for 2740-2760.

Just put on 47 26” barrel. 36.2 gr varget gets 2720 with 25 rounds down pipe with 140 hybrids. Should speed up some but looking for 2740-2760.

I have 8# of varget.

I've seen some posts from David Preston using varget and 140 hybrids. He was getting around 2800 fps with extremely low SDs.
