Two of my 6.5x47's have a .295" neck with .160" freebore. I do not turn any necks. I'm not sure if .295" is "optimum", but I have no complaints with them.
I guess I should rephrase it. Is there enough clearance for field conditions without working the brass excessively. What is the thickness of the brass in the neck?
I think you will need more than that. My non turned lapua brass loaded with a 130 vld measures .290 or .2905. I personally want at least .003 clearance at a minimum.
