6.5x47 with 140vld's

has anybody had any success with bergers 140vlds out of their 6.5x47. if so please share recipe and don't worry no matter what the load i will always start lower and work my way up.

I could also use some info if you are shooting the 130vlds also since I have some of those on order to.

I have great luck with Berger 130 g VLDs shot about 1,500 so far this year. My origianal load was a light loading of Varget that was amazingly accurate at 2,750 fps with only 34.8 g. Varget is scarce so I am using 35.4 RL15 and it is running about 3775 and it is blazingly accurate. I know there are loads out there with more than 37 g of RL 15, I found some an accurate spot with 37 g RL 15 and had case head separation so I tossed all the brass I had shot with 37 grains and backed down. I am keeping the Varget F-class matches the rest of the year.

th 47L is a great round keep in mind with some/most guns the seating depth on the Berger VLDs is an extremely sensitive factor for accuracy. I am not sure if I have foud an accurate load with VLDs when they were not into the lands.

130's here and 40.6 of Accurate 4350

130's and 42.2gr H4350 here.....The 140's are just to much for this case. It will run them to 2850, but the 130's at 3000+ work out much better.

With RE-17, I had no trouble getting 3025 with the 140 Berger VLD in my last 6.5x47 barrel, but I just could not get it to group.

Berger or JLK 130 and 37.5 or so (do work up) of Varget should get you what you are looking for, and is what I have been running for some time now. Good stuff.

thanks guys luckily somebody just listed 2000 of the 130vld's for sale on here so I picked up 1000 of them, hopefully they will work out.

I agree with Karl2U with the 140 being too big for the case

I'm running 123 Scenars (in lands) in front of 37.5 gr of Varget for 2920fps and scary accurate out to 600yds (as far as I've had it)

Also, 130 Bergers in front of 42.3gr of H4350 for 2950fps same accuracy.


Using CCI 450 small mag rifle primers

I chose the Varget load because it's a mild load and very easy on the brass. The H4350 load is near max.

Word on the street is Factory Lapua is Federal primers.
