Suppressor will be used on the rig but not all the time. Will be for long range coyote/hunting, comps, and target shooting. Im wanting to use berger 130 gr hybrids to balance out good bc and velocity. I will not do anything longer than 24 inches for my applications. As of right now i am between having the barrel sized to 22 inches or 20 inches. I just need help figuring out if 2 inches of barrel length is negligible at this point. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Set up is:
Curtis Custom vector switch barrel action
Mpa ba chassis
Bartlein m24/m40 blank
Harris sbrm w/ badger ord lphm
Vortex razor hd gen 2 4.5-27x56mm erb-2c mil w/ mpa ba mount
Silencerco specwar 762
Timney ce 532 2 stage st

Between the 2 I’d go 22 I like a longer barrel for everything except hiking/woods hunting they balance better in most prs type stages, tame muzzle blast and recoil (more weight) and free velocity. That all said I’d go 24” great all around length

The 2" is negligible. Personally I'd do 20" for several reasons including handiness with a suppressor and that you plan to be shooting 130s. But again it's only 2"... I'd either go 20" or just run 24" if you really want the speed. 22" doesn't make enough difference in velocity or handiness to go to.

I had a 27inch 6.5x47 that did 2830fps with 142smk, cut it to 23.5" and the same load does 2775fps, so only lost around 16fps/inch. The next x47 barrel I'm having spun up will be 22" and I'll be happy if I can get 130gr somewhere from 2800fps - 2850fps. I reckon the velocity can still be had with a 20' barrel - but the load may need to be pushed fairly hard. If hunting is the main application 20' makes a lot of sense, for comps I'd lean 22-24

My 6.5x47 comp rifle was 22" and balanced very nicely. It was almost too light for optimal recoil management. The next barrel will be 24".

With the 22" barrel I was getting 2860 fps with 130 AR Hybrids and 130 Norma GT's... Of course by the time I retired the barrel the velocity was down to < 2780 fps with the same load + 0.2 gr powder & chasing lands.

And on the opposite side of the spectrum just for comparison sakes, I've got a 28" 65x47 running 2830fps with 140Eldm and 36.6gr Varget. It excells prone, not something I would want to lug around hunting or really use shooting off barricades a bunch. I shoot prone 90% of the time so the length doesn't bother me often.

So i recently had a rem 700 aac sd in my mpa ba chassis and it was the 16.5 .308 win. That and the vortex scope and suppressor brought my setup to 16 lbs and recoil was like shooting an ar15/5.56. With the m24 contour i think id be ok on weight for shorter. 2780 doesnt seem bad. So would you recommend 22 over a 20?

Would you mind sharing your load info re "22" barrel I was getting 2860 fps with 130 AR Hybrids"
I'm about to start a load up with that exact combo? Thanks

41.5 gr - 41.7 gr H4350... 41.5 initially, increased to 41.7, chasing lands and velocity on a burnt out barrel. Accuracy never really went south, at ~ 2650 rounds when I retired the barrel.

Chamber was cut with a short (0.050") freebore reamer, so COAL was 2.715"... about a 0.020" jump. BR4 primers.
