FL.
I reload 6.5x55 and thinking of getting a 12"-15" barrel for a T/C Encore. It would be used for hunting javalina, pigs and deer. Anyone using something like this I would like to hear your input on barrel lengths and how they handle.

Re: 6.5x55 in a T/C Encore pistol

With that barrel length I'd rock the 100 grain Partition or the 100 grain TSX and a powder in the H4895 burn rate.
I used a 13.5" barrel and Quickload predicts 2700 fps.

Thank you for running the numbers. I wasn't even thinking of going with lighter bullets, I like the partitions in other calibers and if I can get around 2700fps they should work great!

thanks again

You'd like the Barnes as well.
I use the 120 TSX in my 6.5x55.
It does a really nice job on deer.
The 120 is as long as a lead 140 so the 100 should have a similar sectional density to a 120 leaded bullet but much tougher.
