i called to order some 6.5x47 brass this morning and found it had gone up $10 per hundred in the last month or so. i have decided to go with a 6.5XC and i need a cartridge diagram that is in inches rather than millimeters so i can modify some dies etc. i am going to make a neck die out of a .260 remington lee collet die and i have a 6.5x47 body die to set the shoulder back for the time being. i am going to run the 6.5x47 reamer in the extra .050 or so it takes to headspace but i think the neck on the xc brass is longer so it will have to be trimmed some to work with the reamer. does anyone know where a 6.5x47 diagram is that is in inches? thanks.

Re: 6.5xc project

big fan of 6.5x47 myself
brass is $$ but never heard of anyone trashing it

Well once
but that was running 139scenars 3000fps++

Most change barrels still using original brass

But if i was doing one now being a 6.5nut, my Number one choice
6.5/6crusader basically a 244 rem improved and necked to 6.5

next 25wssm necked to 6.5

lastly still abit more case cap than 6XC

But i gotta say 244mash in 6.5 ala6crusader would be pert near perfect

Re: 6.5xc project

old post i know

Looks like the 6.5x47 is closer to 6XC than CM, at least according to QL diagrams

looks like you could use X47 dies n run Xc brass for a 6.5xc

Re: 6.5xc project

The BIG difference i sthat the 6xc has a LARge primer and the 6.5x47 Lapua has a SMALL primer. The Lapua will take higherv pressures using the small primer and max loads. There is NO benefit to making a 6.5xc other than a bit cheaper brass which won't last as long as Lapua brass, therefore it's NOT really cheaper in the long run. The Norma 6xc brass is consistent but can't match up to the number of firings of Lapua.

Re: 6.5xc project

XC brass rated @ 65k psi

how much higher you wanna go?

with annealing every 3rd firing not seeing issue, i wont build another x47 solely because of brass cost
Then again i have enough brass to last until i can no longer shoot, but should i do another 6.5XC will be my choice

1 inch = 25.4 mm
