6.8 W/ gas piston, worth it?

Re: 6.8 W/ gas piston, worth it?

I have a Dpms 6.8 spc with an adams arms gas piston . I like it alot . Very reliable and easy to clean. After kit was installed it didn't effect accuracy. I would say go for it.

Re: 6.8 W/ gas piston, worth it?

IMO No, unless you shoot a ton of ammo. The 6.8 uses fast powder in the 85 and 90gr loads so that makes it hard to tune and shoot the slightly slower powders with heavier bullets with a piston system depending on how the barrel is ported. The 5.56s run well but the 6.8s with a piston can be finicky.

Mine will shoot 110, 100, 95 and 85 grain bullets with no problems. The upper receiver at Midway is complete by the manufacturer .It should have been tested at the factory. If you want reliability go with the piston.

Funny, I have ~ 5K rounds through gas impingement 6.8's, and have not had a single failure... I know it's trivial.
