Anyone have any experience with this round?

I'm thinking about building a new gun and I'm only interested in the 105-108 grain loads. Is 2800-2850 fps a realistic goal??

All the data I'm seeing is in 26-28 inch BBLs, I'm looking at a 22-24" gas gun build, and looking for some realistic estimates on velocity.

Thanks!

I don't know about gas gun firing pins and fit but to get the velocities that cheyenne is getting you usually have to have a small diameter firing pin and a bushed bolt or you will be piercing primers. I'm running 105 VLD's a touch over 2800 in 26" barrel. When I start getting around 2850 I start having problems with primers but I haven't had the firing pin bushed yet. I may send off to Gre-Tan later and have it done.

Yep, you can do it in small format AR using necked down 6.5 Grendal brass to 6mm. I'm getting 2820 (2750 is accuracy load) with 105 A-max and 2915 with the 87gr. V-max, using 22" barrel. You can find the specs in another thread on rifle forum about 6.5 Grendal.

Are you guys running the Lapua brass with the small flash hole diameter? I think it's .059 instead of the .080 norm?

CCI 450's?

All supposed to help with the primer piercing.

Thanks.
