I ordered a gap 10 in 6gt yesterday. This is my first large frame gasser and it will be for PRS stuff. I ordered the 20’ but thinking maybe I should go for the 22’ instead. It will be shot suppressed. Anyone else running a 6gt gasser? Opinions? Things to look out for? I may run factory hornady for break in but planning on 105 hybrids or even 109 handloads for the duration. I do hear that large frame ar’s can beat up brass, any way to avoid this? Thanks!!

It's hard to get weight on a large frame. There's just a certain limitation on what a lower and upper weighs. A bolt gun kitted out for PRS probably weighs 20 to 25lbs. You're average large frame with long range furniture weighs 14 - 16lbs. I went with a 24" barrel as heavy as I could get it. It weighed 17lbs with an NX8 and single pull CkyePod. I added 3lbs of weights. Swapped the NX8 out for a S&B PMII and Hawkins rings and got it to 21lbs.

A 24" barrel isn't long for PRS. The way you keep from beating up brass is staying under pressure. A longer barrel will not only help add weight to the gun but it will also help give you the velocity you're looking for without over pressuring.

I'd be interested in seeing how the gun feeds 109's. That barrel extension is key.

Thanks kinda figured on the pressure but I’m new to the large frame. I’m going to call and tomorrow and get the 23’ barrel. The very limited info I’ve seen on 6gt in an AR I haven’t heard of feed issues but I guess we will see

I currently shoot a 6GT large frame gasser in PRS. Barrel is a 22" GA chambered Bartlein in an Aero M5E1 upper. My input would be to get a 22" for the additional velocity. The only challenge I had with it when first tuning it was that it would occasionally snap the tips off 109 ELMs. I eliminated the problem by polishing the feed ramps.
My rifle weighs around 17.5lbs with a Vortex Razor gen 2 on top. Recoil is really manageable with a can and I'm sure a little better if using a brake. I've settled in on 107 SMKs running close to 2850fps.
