New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Building another bolt gun and am thinking Dasher. And with Varget being imaginary anymore, I do have 30lbs of StaBall and am curious if anyone has had luck with running that in a Dasher.
I ran a velocity ladder looking for pressure in my dasher and I ended up pushing a 105 hybrid target past 3100 with Staball. I stopped once I reached 39.5 grains. Due to the ball powder you can really get a nice dense case fill. Other than just seeing what kind of velocities I could reach, I never experimented with it further. I still have 10 lbs of it hanging out, I want to see what it can do with heavy pull in 223.
Dang that’s impressive! Awesome! I’ve had great luck with it in my creedmoor pushing a 142 SMK at 2920 so I was curious what it would do in a dasher since I only have a pound of Varget and 30lbs of StaBall.
Impressive velocity wise sure, but I was pushing that brass way over the normal limits. I suspect the brass life would probably be pretty short lived, but I wanted to see where the pressure limits were. The good thing about a ball powder is you can get a better case fill compared to other powder types. It’s definitely an interesting powder for sure.
