6mm Remington build on a short action

I plan on having a 6mm Remington with a DBM set up built on a Remington 700 action to shoot the 110gr SMK. The barrel will be an M24 contour at 24 or 26 inches long with a 7 twist. I have a short and long action that I can do this on. If I use the short action I'll be using the Accurate Mag 308 mag with a max COAL of 2.950". My question is has anyone had satisfactory results loading to this mag length? Or should I just built it on the long action and use the Accurate Mag 30-06 mag?

Everything I've read suggests a long action so I'll stick with my original plan and build on the long action.

I have a personal preference for Remington cartridges. I'll eventually have at least one rifle in each caliber from 223 - 338 except the 25, not a lot of match grade bullets to choose from there.
