Did some quick Google-fu on 6x45 and all the information on it out there seems to be from years ago then it dies off. Can anyone give me the pros/cons of it? I have an extra .384 bolt face action and trying to figure out what to do with it lol.

Facts for sure. I just need the barrel to show up now. Supposed to have some down town next week, was hoping to do some load testing. Not sure it’s gonna happen thoughSee, it would have been a lot cheaper to just buy my 17 Remington.
But, you wouldn't have much of a story to tell.![]()
All of ours were single shot, however, several years ago Reloader magazine published an article on the 7TCU in a bolt action rifle. Can you get a long bullet in your mag and seated out far enough to give decent powder space? I am all for anything that can be made with 223 brass. That stuff is practically free.![]()
What length and twist is the bolt gun barrel?I have 2 6x45s, love them both.
The AR shoots 90 Bergers at 2515, bolt gun Berger vld 95s at 2750. I will always have one around.
Was much easier to get a good load than 223, seems to ring targets better as well.
24" 8 twist Krieger, 26.4 TAC seated long. Load is hot, start around 24.5.What length and twist is the bolt gun barrel?
Also, which powder are you using for 95gr load?
Though the numbers would seem to indicate that …. my best guess is…..A good candidate for a chamber castWould this technically be a 17x45?View attachment 8786198

Close enough, call it whatever you want. It's your wildcat.Would this technically be a 17x45?View attachment 8786198
Not exactly “mine”, was just intrigued enough to see what it could do so I had a barrel built for itClose enough, call it whatever you want. It's your wildcat.
What kind of velocity from a 20" barrel? As some might guess from my screen name, it’s one of my favorite cartridges. I’ve built a dozen or more bolt guns chambered in 6x45 and one 6 TCU. There is a huge thread on Rokslide about 6x45 where I share lots of my experiences. The 87 V-Max is “the” bullet in my opinion. It absolutely hammers deer at ranges that I don’t want to mention here. Myself and friends have killed hundreds of deer with the 87 with unbelievable consistency.
For me, it started out as a trial run into the wildcat reloading world and pretty much became an addiction when I saw how accurate the cartridge could be.
These are my current two 6x45s. The NV rifle is a 20” Bartlien heavy Palma on a Definace Classic setup for night hunting and plinking. The second one is a LW build on a Definace Ti.

2800 to 2950 depending on powder. 8208 and TAC are the best. I’ve never owned a 6x45 that did not shoot half to three-quarter MOA at 400 yards with 26.5 grains of 8208 and a 87 set 0.030 off the lands.
So a bit faster than 223 with 75-80gr bullets. Pretty good performance considering the BC on the 87 vmax isn't terrible (similar to a 73gr ELDM).2800 to 2950 depending on powder. 8208 and TAC are the best.
