6x6.8 spc velocity with 55gr bullet

Check out ar15armory.com.

There is a thread there dedicated to the 6x6.8 with lots of data.

I was able to get 3400 out my 24" gas gun with the 58g VMAX. I'm now shooting the 70 grain Varmageddons but I don't remember velocity off the top of my head. I use strictly 8208-XBR as it has worked well with 58s, 70s, and the 87s.

The 6x6.8 is a fun cartridge. I’m getting 3200+ with 70 grn Sierra blitzkings. I haven’t tried anything lighter. Like another poster, I strictly use 8208 xbr. I have been very pleased with that powder. I’ve tried 70grn blitzkings, 87grn vmax, 87grn vld, 95grn vld, and 105grn vld.

What was your velocity with the 95s?

Been looking at some small number of sources for info on a 6.5x6.8, and it's interesting data.

BHW is somehow involved, and I'm thinking there may be an accuracy niche with 6.5 85, 95, 120, and 123 grain projectiles. While I honestly believe the 6.8's capacity is way overbore for the 22 caliber bore, your work with 6mm, and some other(s?) with 6.5mm bores would seem to put the 6.8 case into great potential with applicable bullets and a 22" (or 22"+) barrel, while still shooting out of an AR15 action. IMHO, it probably solves some magazine curvature issues that may be present with the Grendel's x39 case footprint.

Anyway, keep it on up, and keep reporting; sounds great so far.

Here are a couple groups I shot with my 6mm dti. 55gr nosler bt and 31.5gr h322, 2.280 oal. Definitely a consistent 1/2 moa gun with someone who is a better shooter than me. I'm hovering around 3600 fps with a 22" barrel.
