Looking at building a 6.5 creed in the future for my brother in law. Considering using a prefit barrel and I already have no go gauges for 6XC and barrel vise, etc. I know these cartridges are very similar in dimensions so can I get away with using my 6xc gauges to set headspace? Or not recommended?

    Thanks.

Other way around but thanks. I asked because I've read of people using a 6xc sizing die to bump shoulders on a 6.5 creed. Thanks for the help. Not like no go gauges cost much.

A 6XC no go gauge will be about .040" shorter than a 6.5 Creedmoor go gauge. You wouldn't be able to chamber a Creedmoor cartridge if spaced with a 6XC gauge.

As for bumping shoulders on a 6.5 Creedmoor with a 6XC die, the 6XC die has a smaller diameter shoulder than a 6.5 Creedmoor. You could bump the shoulder but the case diameter would be sized smaller that it would if you full length sized it with a 6.5 Creedmoor die.
