I was wanting to start shooting long range targets out to a 1000 yds in the off season just for fun. Does anyone have in good loads for the 7/08 using 162 grain bullets? I was also curious if I can get to 2700 fps with a 162 grn bullet? I have a 24" barrel with a 1:9 twist.

shooting the 162 A-max I can get to 2600fps with my gas gun. It has a 22" barrel. But, since its magazine fed, my oal is limited to 2.800". You shouldn't have any problem safely reaching 2700fps with a longer barrel and longer oal. I've been using H4350 but I've wanted to try the 2000MR. That seems like the best powder for 7-08 right now.

I am using H4350 in my 7-08 with 162 gr A-max.. My Load is 46 gr of H4350. Remington brass and win LR primers. I am getting 2740 fps from a 25.5" barrel. I have ran them as hard as 2840 with 46.8 gr of H4350 but had pressure and brass life sucked. Also shot the 168 bergers with the same charge. My Oal is longer than mormal. max mag length in a 308 AI mag. Not sure of exact length.
