As blasphemous as my friends shall see it, I am sending an action to GAP to have done up in 7-08. It was a tossup between that and a .260, but I found a deal on brass and dies and that settled the debate. Just ordered an M40 contour 1/9 from Bugholes, so things should be rolling in a week or so.

Let me hear from the devotees of the little 7. Favorite loads and experiences, please.

Another 7-08 fan here. Keep track of what is coming foreword regarding the new 7mm bullets. Info seems tight for some reason but is coming in. All the new Nosler LRAB bullets released are now sold. Should be some good intel coming.

You won't be sorry. Very versatile, efficient round. Has had to live in the shadows of the 260 and 6.5CM on this board and others but it's probably the best kept secret in a SA, especially if you reload.

I loves me some 7mm08.

Look at ~44.5-46.5gr H4350 under a ~160-170gr bullet to get ~2700-2800fps.

Varget and Reloder 15 work too (lower charge weight of course), but generally produce a shade less speed.

Pro Tip: For maximum long range performance, choose an action and magazines that allow for cartridges to be loaded out to 2.925"+, and have the chamber throated appropriately. You want to hang that bullet just as far out of the case as you can to maximize case capacity.

I just got my barrel blank (bartlein varmint 1-9) a week or so ago, going to the smith soon. Picked up a bunch of 150gr ABLRs, and waiting for the Lapua 7mm 150gr scenar L's to land as well. Now for powder choices for the 150's - I got 4 to try, but trying to find a couple others... not much data for 150 in 7-08.

I'll be interested in what others have to say. I'm helping a friend with his 7mm-08 by putting together some loads for him to test. Our first attempt was with H380 and Win760 behind a Nosler 150 gr Accubond Long Range. Thing did not go well when he fired these. I don't know if it's his technique or something with the rifle. It's a Rem 700 BDL Varmint model. Maybe it's because he's been doing too much shotgun shooting the last few months.

I have two. Love em both! TIkka T3 lite w/ 20" factory bbl. for hunting and a Stiller TAC 30 w/ 1:9 fluted 4 groove Brux #5 at 26" for comps.

The Tikka likes 140g Accubond w/ 41.5g Varget at 2690fps and mag length for the Tikkas (2.824COAL---.140 off the lands). I know, slow, but it went to Africa last year and had one shot kills on Kudu, Zebra, Gemsbok, Impala, Springbok, and Blesbok. Taking it to CO this year for elk. Sub MOA (.535) and weighs in right at 7lbs. w/ Vortex 6.5x20x50 and loaded.

The Stiller likes 46.5g H4350 and 162g Amax or BTHP Match ( bought a shitload before discontinued) at 2790 fps, 2.955 COAL (.018 off lands) w/ Alpha Type II mags and still .591 MOA accuracy after 2441 rounds. Easy to spot hits at any distance past 300M.

Your gonna like it as well, I suspect!

After hunting with the 7MM08 for twenty years I got a chance to pickup a GAP built on a Badger action nestled into an AICS. That thing has helped me place high or even win a few matches over the last three years. Sadly, the barrel went away so I had it redone in 6 Creedmoor. But I just could not let the 7MM08 go and had a GAP barrel chambered up for one of my AI AX rigs. Shoot the 168 SMK or VLD behind H4350 and you will be mighty happy.
