Gunsmithing 7.5 x 55 Swiss FIELD OR NO-GO GAUGE

So I did what I’m asking for with.

30-06 fired case measured with a C375 bushing. 2.045”
Field gauge measured with a C375 bushing. 2.052”

8mm Mauser fired case with a D400 bushing. 1.860”
Field gauge measured with a D400 bushing. 1.864”

Explain again why it can’t be done???

A teeeny tiny change in the depth of the chamfer cut on the D400 bushing will give a big enough variance in measured length to cause your measurements to mean nothing.

If someone measured the Gauge with their D400 bushing then sent the SAME bushing to you it'd be okay. Called "Comparator" for that reason. used to compare, not necessarily give outright measurements.

I just made up gauging to accurately measure bullet ogive to base measurements on ammo for a single caliber. All measure within .003" on the same bullet at .263" diameter. It is not as easy as buying a $49.95 set from Amazon.

A comparator bushing does not equal a precision ring gage.
YMMV
