7.62x39 extended firing pin

I built a 7.62x39 ar 2 years ago. I’ve gone through 2 extended firing pins, each one gave up the ghost after about 1000 rounds, the extended tips didn’t break just blunted until they became ineffective. I just put in a red x pin, just curious what kind of life I can expect out of it?

Sounds like they weren't hardened. You can accomplish the same thing by taking .010" off the tail of the bolt.

I've got a red x in mine and I'm up to 4k rounds with no issues. Constructor is right however, trim the tail and use whatever pin you have
