The 7 WSM needs its own little reloading data thread, especially since I'm on the verge of building a lightweight (hopefully) for hunting. Anyone running a 7 WSM please post up your loads here. As always, readers please use caution when using others loads. Start low and load up. Thanks guys!!!

Heres a few that were mixed into the 7mm thread:

    7WSM

    175 smk; 65.0 RL25; Fed 215M primers; Win brass; OAL 2.86"; 2,900fps 26" Kreiger 9 twist.

    175 smk; 66.4 H1000; Fed 215M primers; Win Brass; OAL 2.86", 2,875 26" Kreiger 9 twist.

All loads were a little hot, not really to bad though. It was freezing and altitude is high. Im going to dial down a couple grains and see how velocity holds up. H1000 and RL22 seem to hold better groups.

65grns of RL22 shot well also. Velocity differnce was nill and ES was a good bit higher.

    162 AMAX

    ES = 23
    WELL under 1/2 MOA
Started getting compressed at 70.0 gr but still no pressure other than a ever so slightly cratered primer.

Been shooting this load for the past 400-500 rounds without a problem. Not even measuring to the lands. I think last time it was .140 thousands. Don't shoot at 100 for groups that often, but when I worked up the load the group was .3 something with 3 of the 5 in almost the same hole. Mounted a new scope the other week and got a zero. Only shot one group at .285, not too shabby IMO.

New barrel already and new load.

    66.7gr of 4831SC
    CCI 250 Magnum Primers
    Winchester Brass
Seated out to the lands it was pushing 3015FPS with a SD of 6.

I also have a mag feed load that is friendlier on everything. 64gr of 4831SC with a 2.960 COAL pushing it slowly at 2861 with a SD of 7.

    7wsm hunting round
Browning x-bolt factory rifle and 24" barrel
    160 accubond
    55.0 gr h4350
    Cci 200
produced .441" three shot group during load development (54.5 gr was not bad either)
Still working with this one, and I would like to try a slower powder.

I have also been working some loads with the 140 partition. Has anyone obtained great accuracy with the partitions?

    Caliber: 7WSM
    Action: Surgeon 591
    Barrel: 1:9 24"
    Stock: T5A

    Load Data:

    Brass: Win
    Powder: RL-22 @ 63gr
    Primer: Fed 215M
    Bullet: 168gr Berger VLD
Seated: 2.905 (Will fit in a AI mag)

15 rounds fired consecutively over the chrono:
    Avg: 3089 fps
    SD: 7 fps
    ES: 21 fps
    ~.25 MOA

This is a max load in my gun. It is also temp sensitive above 85 degrees.

    Edit: 3/21/12

I have went back and modified this load as it was a little too hot. It was killing my primer pockets in 3-4 firings. Here is the new load that has been modified.

    Same Rifle/Same components
    61.5gr of RL-22
    168 Berger VLD

    Avg Velocity: 3000fps
    SD: 3fps
    ES: 7fps
This is from 10 shots fired over the chrono.

    Accuracy is still sub .25moa.

Due to the temp sensitivity of the RL-22 I decided to work up a H4831SC load in hopes that it would be less temp sensitive. With the RL-22 I saw a ~100fps increase in velocity from 70* to 89* in the direct sun. Also a noteable pressure increase as well was seen on my brass.

    I worked up this load:

    Same rifle/components as above.
    62.9gr of H4831SC
3,032fps average with the 168gr VLD from a 24" barrel
    ES: 12fps
    SD: 5fps
Accuracy was literally 5 shots in one ragged hole at 100yds. This workup was done in ~75* temp. I am curious to see how this load reacts to 85-95* temps in direct sunlight.

    7WSM
    Winchester brass
    Wolf LRM primers
    2.96" COAL
Berger 180 Hybrids pointed and BN coated
    26" GAP chambered barrel
    62 Grains RL-17
    3050 fps 3 shot average

    I have a 7WSM built by GAP on a Surgeon 591 short action and 24.5" Bartlein 5R.

    180 gr Berger VLD
    62.2 gr RL-22
Fed 215M primer (large rifle magnum)
    COAL approximately 2.951
    OAL to Ogive (touching) 2.241

No pressure signs at 62.2 but started to get some sticky bolt lift once I got up into low 63s.

Rifle has produced several sub-.25moa groups, and gets out to 1,000 yards with 7.2 mils of elevation at 1990 DA.

Good info guys. I might be building a 7wsm in a short action in the near future. I want to go as short as possible on the barrel and my goal is to send the 168 berger to at least 3000 fps.

    How short can I go?????

I can push both of these loads a little more but they have performed very well and do everything I need to do for hunting.

    Berger 168 VLD-H

    Also have Proof Research 7WSM

Work up to these loads in your rifle.

Could run them faster, but the extra velocity added no extra accuracy, so kept the foot off the gas to stretch barrel life.

I'm end of summer busy and haven't had a chance to work them up yet but hopefully soon. Will report back & thanks.

Finally got out for a little while this weekend - elev 5880 temp 60 avg vel 2880 26" barrel suppressed 7wsm with the 180 eld-m. This was using h4350 only did 100 yrds but it was shooting great. 1/4 to 1/2 when I did my part. Will try to take to distance and see if it holds together. I see guys getting higher vel with other powders and wonder if it's worth chasing? Do you think I will be getting good use of the BC or do I need to run faster to take advantage of it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Anyone have some load data for copper/nonlead bullets? Planning on testing on hammer bullets since I'm in SoCal for hunting.
