Getting ready for an elk hunt next week and I thought I'd try to get this 700 AWR .338 WM to shoot. Picked it up used a few years back and it wasn't giving very good groups so I put it aside as I have others to choose from. Just mounted a scope and wanted to verify stock torque before I head out to shoot, but I was having some issues. I went 50 in/lbs on the screws but it's dropping the firing pin when I close the bolt. I noticed it wouldn't do it if I loosen the front trigger guard screw. What gives? It's a Mcmillan kevlar stock bedded from the factory. The screw needs to be excessively loose to function normally. Probably less than 5 in/lbs as I can turn the hex bit by hand without the driver.
