700 PSS finish?

I just traded a rifle for my friend here in starkville. Traded his encore for a PSS. Bolt cycling is sluggish, not sure what the hell the guy cleaned with but it appeared to be some kind of grease. Anyhow it's has the old 700 style trigger etc. I'm wondering is this what the finish looked like on the PSS? I always thought it was a matte black? This appears dark grey.

It might be parkerized.

I'm not sure about the current production ones, but it was on the older models.

It must be parkerized then, i guess i've just never really looked at a parkerized finish.

The older PSS were parked, the original old ones had 24 inch barrels, heck some came with 5R barrels.

My friend contacted the guy turns out he had it cerakoted.
