I'm looking for loads specifically for this rifle. I'm planning to take it out to close to 1000 yards soon, and I've just started reloading my own and looking for recommendations. I have close to 2000 rounds through the rifle, but those were all factory.

I have read the 308 sticky, but I'm looking for people who have had success with the 700 tactical 1-12 twist.

1. How does your rifle do with 168 GMM?
2. What powders and bullets do you already own?

I have 168 smk, 175 smk, 178 ELD-M; 4064, and reloader 15 for powder. So far I've bought low amounts until I can find what the rifle likes. I had success out to 850 with 168 and 175 FGMM. Usually my rifle is around .5-.75 MOA with me shooting. I'm convinced it could be better with a better shooter.

I had very good luck with the Sierra 155 Palma match king (2156) using LC brass and 2000-MR powder. I ended up right at 50.0 grains, but also a good node at around 48. Start at the low, work to the high. Seating depth wasn't too important - I used it about 2.820. Very accurate to about 850, and also quite capable at 1000. I had a similar load with RL-15, but can't remember the charge weight.

Wanting a load that will feed from factory hinged floor plate or do you have an AICS magazine?

FCS, have an AICS, but when I'm shooting alone I tend to just single feed.

Fish Dr, how different are the 155 Palmas compared to the 155 Scenar? I tried the Scenars and my patterns at 100 and 200 looked like a shotgun went off, so I didn't bother trying them any further.

I'm running a factory rem. 700 vs. 308 12 twist 26 inch brl. the load is, win. cases, fed. gmm. primers, 43.5 gr. varget, 175 smk. coal. is just enough to feed thru bdl.mag. it's a light load but it shoots about the same as your's . .5 to .75 for 5 shots at 100yds. you could try working up to the next node if wanting more velocity.

168 SMK
43.8 IMR 4064
Win Brass/CCI Primers
That was my sweet spot for my SPS Tact. I found a very small window of accuracy in my development.

I have had great success with my Rem 700 308 with 1 in 12 twist (at 26 inches and then chopped to 20 inches) running 45gr of 4064, 175 smk, lapua brass, fed 210m primers, and loaded to AICS mag length.

This load in this gun will shoot below 1/2 moa and has proved to be very accurate to 1200 yards.

I have the same rifle, and I've been using 155gr hunting VLDs, 46.5gr Varget, Prime brass and CCI BR2 primers. The last time I chrono'd them my avg. mv was 2753. With my magpul aics mag, I'm maxed out at 2.830 COAL for the rounds to feed reliably. Groups at 100 and 200yds aren't great (about 2" at 100), but they shoot great at long range and I'm on target at 800-1,000.

I'm thinking about going to either a 155gr or 168gr ELD Match. Any input on those bullets? Would the 168 be able to get a mv in the ballpark of 2700 or more? I'm happy with the hunting vld at 1,000 so could I expect similar results downrange with the 155gr ELD-M?

My thinking is light is better due to my lack of success at anything past 600yd with Prime 175gr.

Just saw this question - sorry for long delay. I have no experience with the Scenar bullet so can't answer. The 155 Sierra Palma is quite a bit longer than the 155 SMK. In fact, it is almost as long as the 175 SMK. It seemed to get better when pushed fast … the faster I went the smaller groups IN MY RIFLE. That may be because of the 1:12 twist being helped by extra speed. I increased until the extraction got stiff and backed off. 2000-MR worked well, as did RL15. I'm sure it would work with others.
