I have already read the reviews on the sps tactical, however I was hopeing for some user input. Good or bad if you own the rifle please submit your thoughts!

Just finished reading the entire thread great build! (Im a boot so my opinion probaly dosent count) I had an idea that this would be my first Tactical rifle... but you have sealed the deal. Considering my only shooting experience was in the USMC 20 years ago. I have many questions as I try to duplicate your build.

Just had a .308 here we cut to 22" and put in an AICS. SHe shot well, really well. Remington is putting out some good stuff lately.

Get yourself the SPS-T and shoot it for a while, If you then feel that you need to have extra work done, by all means do so, but you may find as many here have, Including myself that the SPS-T's are shooters and lack very little in the accuracy market.

everybodys input will help so thanks to all. this weekend was the local airshow so next weekend ill head to turners for the purchace!.....p.s. for the Marine who has never used a scope ( well other than for a SMAW or NVS lets talk a little about recomended scopes for the boot. hopefully user friendly.

+ 1 on sps tac, got one, love it.
just under half inch groups with handloads. i dont care much for the hogue stock it comes with, but as far as stock stocks go its pretty good. like has been said many times before, shoot it till you outshoot it, then upgrade as needed.
it may just come down to personal preferance and asthetics...?
scopes......whats your budget? a wise man once told me its pointless to spend less on a scope then you did the rifle, but again, if you can see your target, you can shoot it.....i have some cheapies on my some of my rifles and they do fine till i can upgrade!!!
my only recomendation would be something with target turrets or adjustable turrets so that you can make use of the distance the rifle is capable of.... everything else is subjective to how much you want to spend i think... with scopes you get what you pay for generaly, but there are some great deals going on good solid quality scopes backed by good waranty if something does go wrong.

Old fashioned or cheap either name that fits will work...I wonder why I can go 10 for 10 on a baker target with Iron sights and still need to spend $2500.00 to reach out to 800-1000?!? Dont misunderstand me please, I just wonder is the cost of manufacturing a high quality scope really this much or are we talking oakley where $5 sunglasses will cost you 100bucks? My SMAW rocket launcher and scope were good out to 750yds. So I wanna know why I must spend $2200.00 to get the last 250yds. from this rifle???? Seriously though I would not want to spend more on glass then on the weapon itself.......However I dont wanna buy twice...meaning not P.O.S. that I would wanna upgrade later.

1) Breathe.
2) You do NOT have to spend $2500 on a scope these days to get something reasonable. Frankly, I think a lot of people over spend on optics to get that last nth degree of performance. There are only a relative handful of people who will do competitions or be in a tactical situation who really need that next tier of features and clarity. We all WANT it and may choose to spend to get it, but few NEED it... there IS a difference.
It sounds like you may not be in that category, therefore a $3k scope is probably a wasted investment.
3) Optics DO cost money for quality parts. Glass that is precision ground. Chemicals to coat them. Machining various parts to demanding specs. Plus actually paying people to run a business, facilities to do so, machine costs, etc.
Its not cheap.
4) You need to look at some of the recent offerings from outfits like Vortex, Wotac, etc. Find the compromise that allows you to rationalize your spend to your needs.

I would also like to reinerate my shooting experience is very limited! besides my M16-A2 that I used in the corps. I have a Marlin guide gun in 45-70 w/iron sights and a Mauser m24/47 in 8mm. This .308 will be my first attempt at a scoped rifle. I guess my next question would be, Is the accuracy 50% shooter and 50% rig? or could a shooter with practice make anything hit? (besides my 45-70)ha ha. and vice versa a crappy shooter hit all day long with top-notch rifle!

A great rifle will not likely make a bad shooter better. If you are only capable of shooting 1 inch groups at 100 yards, it will not matter if your gun is capable of 1/4 inch groups or 3/4 inch. But a 1/4 inch shooter using a rifle that is capable of 1 inch groups is not going to see 1/4 inch. Its all relative.
FWIW my SPS-T is averaging .6-.75MOA out to 400 yards with everything i've run though it from 168-178 grains. I'm heading out for 900 next week so hopefully it will stay the same.
