Rifle Scopes 700p and mark 4 help

rifle is 700p

want to use leupold 1 piece 15 moa base

mark 4 6.5x20x50 scope

will the mark 4 MED rings give me the clearance I need or do I need high rings???

would like the scope to be as low to barrel as possible

I believe the Mark 4 Med's are 1" high. You should be fine.

I know this for a fact, the standard 2 piece, 0 cant mark 4 bases require high Mark 4 rings using a 50 MM obj. Mark 4 scope. Unless the 1 piece 15 MOA base has an extra 1/4" in height from the old, original style 2 piece bases, you'll need high Mark 4 rings.

tnrednk74, Im pretty sure the med rings are .254'' and the high rings are .453.... 1' would be way to high anyone else know?

I recently mounted a Mark 4 8.5-25X50 to a 700P with the Leupy 15MOA base, and the medium rings worked just fine. I actually had the same question, and I'm glad I went with the medium rings. There's still plenty of clearance for the scope, and it's mounted closer to the bore axis with no need to build up the cheek piece of the stock to achieve proper eye position.

I have the Leupold Med rings on my Rem 700 with a 56MM NXS and there is more than enough room. Great rings. Very sturdy and heavy.
