700P, XCR Long Range Tactical, or 5R?

Re: Remington 700P .223 Vs. Remington 700 VS SF II .

The P will allow you to shoot heavier bullets with the faster twist. It could make a difference depending on your purposes.

Re: Remington 700P .223 Vs. Remington 700 VS SF II .

Go with the 9 the 1:9 twist rate will allow you to shoot up to 70 bullets, sometimes with a 1:9 you can get lucky and they will even handlle the 75 grainers

Re: Remington 700P .223 Vs. Remington 700 VS SF II .

I would go with the 700 Police because why not choose the one that will handle both lite and heavy bullets. Mine shoots 55 gr. Ballistic Tips, 69 gr. Match Sierra's, and 75 gr. Hornady BTHP's into tight clusters at 200 yds. Then again my Colt Accurized Rifle with it's 24" 1/9 twist shoots the same loads equally well. I lucked out.

Re: Remington 700P .223 Vs. Remington 700 VS SF II .

My P shoots sub MOA with 80s at 500. Don't get the SF II. You will either regret it or just end up making a trip to the gunsmith faster than you planned.

Re: Remington 700P .223 Vs. Remington 700 VS SF II .

Thanks for all the input guys, I've decided against the .223 altogether, and am in the market for a 700 .308.

Now I'm looking at a 5-R, XCR LRT, or a 700P.

Re: Remington 700P .223 Vs. Remington 700 VS SF II .

I had the cash to buy the XCR LR and love it.

Both are stainless, while the XCR has a nice black finish.

5R has the Xmark pro which is meh
XCR LR has a 40x trigger, mine breaks real nice

5R has HS stock
XCR has B&C stock

Never fired mine with the factory stock replaced with an AICS first then moved to a A5.

Only want to spend $800 instead of 1k plus go with the 700P have had a couple and they are great rifles.

Same here. Bought one a couple of months ago from Bachman Pawn & Guns. Of course I live a few mins away and was able to walk right in. But they usually have the 700P in stock for that $799 price.
