Re: 77 SMK

I use win brass with 24.7 varget out of RRA 24" Varmint. Primer pockets are shot after 4-5 reloads though but it shoots well.

I put it on paper at Reade Range the other week just out of curiosity. 600 yards 4.75", 800 6.07" or something like that, just slightly over 6", and 1000 yards was right at 10" all 5 round groups. I was quite surprised...wind was tricky out that far though hahaha

Re: 77 SMK

I'm running 77gr SMKs at 2.240" OAL with 24.2gr Varget, and accuracy has been very good. I typically use PMC or Win cases, with Wolf primers almost exclusively. Velocity is around 2700fps in a 24" Brux, and it is a solid sub MOA load.

Re: 77 SMK

~24.0 grain of RL15 thrown into LC brass, CCI #41 primers, 77 SMK with cannelure seated to ~2.26" COAL (1.86" at ogive), then a light crimp with a LFCD. There is a little "crunching" when seating.

This seems to be a pretty standard load and has worked well for me out of a 20" 1:7.

Here is a link for some more data.

Re: 77 SMK

Yes, I shoot H4895 exclusively, I have a 1/8 twist 18" CLE that loves 24g of H in a LC case, running 2750, this has been questioned of being too hot, even tho I have no pressure signs, I backed off to 23.5g at 2675 and shoots almost as well. .75" @ 100yrds.

Re: 77 SMK

Anybody have issues with the 77smk seating at an angle?

I am using rcbs dies and i find that i need to charge the case and then press the smk into the brass case a bit and make sure its oriented directly up as straight as possible before putting it into the seating die.

Otherwise, it seats at an angle and wobbles if i roll the completed cartridge.
