I am ordering a barrel for a 7mm-08 build, because I am in ca I plan on running Barnes LRX bullets. They have the option of a 139 gr, 145 gr, or a 168 gr. The 168 gr has a note on there website that it requires 1:8 twist to stabilize. I am ordering a Carbonsix barrel they have the option of 1:9 or 1:8 twist option. Seems like an easy decision but I think it is more likely that I will settle on one of the lighter options, I am worried that the faster twist will pigeonhole me into the heavier option. From what I have seen on different twist rate calculators the 1:8 twist rate would be required for magnums only. What are your thoughts on my twist options? Will the 1:8 twist be too fast for the lighter bullets? Do I really need the 1:8 to run the 168 gr bullets?

Ok, I have an AR I went with a faster twist rate and it will not shoot lighter bullets accurately. I just do not want to do the same with this rifle. If the 168 gr is too long for mags which twist would be better if I am focusing on the lighter rounds?

I have looked at these before but most of my guns have magazines and these run too long, but can never heart to call and see if he has some options for me to try out.
