I have been searching this site, and many others chasing info about the 7mm-08 in regards to the heavier projectiles. I have found some data, but I would like to hear from guys shooting it just to confirm, before I commit to a barrel.

So either in the standard, or Ackley form, what velocity (without running hard) are you getting with the 162/168's.

Also barrel length!

Thanks

Re: 7mm-08 with 162's/168's

The consensus seems to be 2700-2750 from a 26" barrel, and that AI doesn't feed well enough to justify the marginal performance gains.

Try the search link in my sig, might make locating the threads your looking for a little easier.

Re: 7mm-08 with 162's/168's

See Sig for barrel specs:

162 Hornady BTHP
Win Brass
47.2g H4350 (compressed load)
CCI 200 primer
2.870 OAL
2780fps
.3-.4 at 100yards (5rd groups)

Absolutely no pressure signs and it's also very temperature stable.

Good luck,
Merritt

2700fps

</div></div>

That seems awfully optimistic, are you getting that from a chronograph (what brand) or by reverse engineering your observed drops?

I agree, but the chrono is confirmed with other rifles of known speeds, also that is suppressed. I tried quite a few powders before I found H4350.

You say "rechambered"... it wasn't originally a 243, was it?
