I'm just chasing some information on the Sierra 160gr TMK versus the Hornady 162gr ELD-M. Has anyone had experience with both? The purpose is to be used in my 7mmSAW.

I have used the Sierra 168 MK and the Hornady 162 ELD-M in my Rem Mag The Hornady can have shit bullet to bullet weight variations which make long range 1600m consistancy dificult but has a better BC than the Sierra. I am looking at going back to the Sierra and just winding the turret more. If the price was closer I would look at the Berger but here in NZ they cost about the same as unicorn poop.

Yeah, the Berger 168 grainers are $90 a box in Aus. I’m looking at the 160 grain Sierra over the hornady because of CBOL differences and just want to know if the height of the ogive is higher on the hornady versus the hornady. The throat of this rifle is slightly short so I’m looking to find a 160gr projectile I can seat to the same CBOL and have a greater charge weight

I use the 162 ELD-M in a 7mm-08 and it is unreal. The stated BC is legit and moving at 2825fps out of my 7mm-08 it walks all over my 6.5 CM and eventually surpasses my 300 Win (with 190 gr SMK) in energy and stays supersonic longer.

I've also used the 180gr ELD-M with really good success. If you have the twist for that bullet you may want to consider trying that one out too. At a nearly .800 BC that bullet is on rails, even in stiff winds.

Cheers mate, I might order a few to run through the barrel after it's shot in
