Seeing as how we still have no word on when the Amax will go back into production I'm looking into a temporary replacement. I picked up some Sierra 168's to try out since I can't find any Bergers and I don't think I have the twist to run anything heavier. Is the bc fairly correct or inflated? Hopefully I can get a decent velocity out of them but we will see.

I have about 400 Amax's left but I use them for everything from hunting to target so at times they go by fast. I have a box of the Nosler 168's as well but they definitely don't look as sleek as the Sierra or Hornady bullets.

I shoot the 168 SMK thru my 7mm08 out to 1000 yards. I got my initial elevation chart by using JBM and choosing the Litz option for BC. The chart is very close to correct. I find the 168 SMK to be as accurate as the Berger VLD with less fuss. As for 162 Amax or BTHP Match I have never had as good a luck with them (but that is just a personal preference I guess).
Are you loading with H4350? I was using a load pulled from Hodgdon's website a couple years ago. They had max of 47.2 gr then. When I went to a new gun/barrel combo I went back to double check. The load was much lower so I had to start over on development. I wound up at 45 grains and am pushing the 168SMK at 2680 FPS.
