7mm mag. build

Ok guys I'm getting ready to start rebuilding my old 7mag and I need help deciding on a rifle builder. I've narrowed it down to two somewhat local gunsmiths for the action truing and barrel install. GAP in KC and Chris Mathews of Long shot rifles LLC in Urich, Mo. There's only $200 difference between them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

either is good. GAP is more prominent on this board and will probably give you better re-sale value should you ever decide to sell.

apples and oranges. However, I wouldnt let a couple hundred bucks deter me from going with one gunsmith over another. I have had GAP build a few for me and I have been extremely happy... I'm sure others on this board have had the same experience.

Call Dave Sink in Lexington, NC. He has built sniper rifles for the local police department. He does expert work for a fair price. PM me and I'd be glad to tell you about the rifles he has done for me.

So far sounds like either way I go I'll be in good hands. The good thing is they both are only 100 mile away.

Didn't Chris start at GAP and then moved on and opened his own shop? It would come down to turn around time if it were me. Both will build a nice rig for sure.

Ya, Chris started at GAP, then opened his own shop. Talked to him on the phone today. Seems like a nice guy and knows what he's talking about. Now I just need to get a hold of GAP

Finally got a hold of GAP today. Nice guys to talk to. I think I am going to go with them since they have a shorter turn around and were about $200 cheaper than Chris.

Now, to find the time to drop it off. Man I hate having to work for a living.

Dropped off my rifle Wednesday at GAP. They have a little quicker turn around and was about $200 cheaper.

Now, to decide on which reticle for the NF scope. Trying to decide between the NP-R1 and NP-R2. Any one with experience with these two reticles?

Good work!

NP-R1 seems pretty popular around here and has some nice small graduation marks... Just make sure your reticle matches your turrets, so if you go with an NP-R1 or R2 make sure you get MOA turrets.

I run the NP-R2. I like it because it's fast, either holding for wind or elevation. The NP-R1 is better for range estimating because of it's finer subtensions.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the NP-R1 for the 2 MOA horizontal hash marks.
