I was thinking of trying this bullet in my Ruger 1b 7mm rem mag. Do you think I can get it to stabilize in the 1:9.5 twist? Is 3000 fps doable in the 26" barrel?

Umm, how about no! 7RM is more than capable of pushing the 180's at 3K FPS.

no problems to use a 180gr projectile in a factory 7mm remington and they have a 1 in 9.25 twist barrel i would try them in your barrel the 175gr matchkings are also realy good performers and use retumbo and you will get close to 3000 fps the other powder to try is H1000 but retumbo usualy gived better velocity with less pressure.
A 284 win will get 2800 with a 26" barrel easily no problems to get near 3000fps with a 7mm rem mag they beat a 300 win mag.

2897 is the fastest listed load in my manual for a 175.
Do you have a load that safely goes faster?

I am able to push the 180's at 3000fps out of my 7WSM, you mean to tell me that a 7RM cant push them faster? Dont read too much into your manual, they are lawyer approved.

I've got the 175 SMKs moving at 3,020 with Retumbo and a 26" barrel. Over all length is 3.380 and they are jumping .020. I could make them go faster, but my rifle liked it right there.

I have never understood how people can get 3K out of a 7 RM. The best I have been able to do in three seperate guns is about 2900. Two with 26" barrel and one with a 27" barrel. Frustrates me because I'd love to push that bullet at that speed.

What powder are you using, since even using RL22 I'm getting easily over 2900 with my 7mm/270 in a 27.5" barrel. I got some RL17 in the mail yesterday, my goal is 3k with with them.
