Gunsmithing 7mm RUM project

I got a stainless 7mm RUM in a trade and had an idea of buying a neck bushing die set and simple necking it down to .277 with a .303 bushing, no shoulder change like kirbys .270AM. any thoughts on this? i would make a few cases and have PTG make me a custom reamer for it. I am thinking about using a 1-8.5" rock creek 28" to shoot the new berger 170gr EOL bullets. With info from the .270AM i think i would get to 3250 pretty easy with US869 and primers.

Better go ahead and order the new barrel now lol. Otherwise sounds fun. But why not leave it as is and take advantage of the greater variety of high BC 7mm bullets available?

Already have a full custom rem700 7mm STW 27in barrel built by Travis at R-Bros. So am thinking i need something different. Only thing i am waiting for is hearing from Bob Beck about hwo the new 170gr Bergers field tested. With a BC of .703 it would be a really slick out of an Ultra case should be really easy to hit 3250FPS with a 28" barrel.
