I have a GAP 7mm WSM and I'm currently loading 63gr of H4831SC with a 175gr SMK. Have switched over to H1000 in my .280 and was going to do the same in my WSM and was just wondering how hard it can be pushed. With the load above I'm getting around 2920fps from my 28" Schneider.

I have a Savage long action 7mmWSM,with a 27" Benchmark barrel,shooting a 162gr Amax.I am running 70.1 gr. of H1000,with a 215m primer.I am getting 3030fps with no pressure signs at all.

i have had a 7mm wsm for about 6 years well maybe longer right after the 300 wsm came out but anyways. I have loaded from 115 SPeer Hps for small whitetail's all the way up to the good ole 160 gr old Barnes 'x" bullet without rings and all with 4350, imr4831, and Magpro and all have been above 3000 fps if i remember correctly i have got 3200-3300 but i can check if it matters that much to you.

Re: 7mm WSM how hard are you pushing it

I worked up a load this weekend with a Savage Long Action for the 7mm WSM using a 180 Berger VLD. Win Supreme 780 up to 3000+ but groups went to shit, tried H1000 66g (grouped less than 1/2 inch but velocity around 2850)and 67g, and settled on 65.2 grains RL22 at 3002fps with a 17fps spread. I took the RL22 to 66g with a velocity of 3024 but groups started to open and no sign of pressure. The 65.2 yielded at 0.331 inch 5 round group at 100yards. I will stop at this load setting. (the 180g VLD was loaded 0.037inch off the lands).

Re: 7mm WSM how hard are you pushing it

Well the load I have shoots very well as Vern Harrison told me the 175 will go to sleep right around 2920fps and it did. I was playing around with Quickload and noticed there is alot more room to play with. I'm not a speed freek but with the case capacity I have left and using H1000 and the lower pressures. Wondering if there isn't another accuracy node that the bullet will go to sleep at above 2920fps, but still be safe to shoot.

This may be funny to most, but my load for 180 Bergers and 162 A-Max's it the same.

65 grains on RL22, 180 bergers have a OAL of 3.165" @2950fps and the 162's have a OAL of 3.120" @3030FPS

both are outstanding loads out of my 28" Rock barrel.
