Ok so here goes I'm new to this Fourm but I have been doing lots of research on here to help my build come along. I'm colecting parts to build a 7 Saum I have a trued up 700 short action, Jewell trigger. Looking at getting a manners t2 or t4 stock. My question is what brand, length, and rate of twist of barrel should I go with. I have been leaning towards a Bartlein or Kriger in 1-8.4 or 1-8.5 or even a 9 twist finished about 28 maybe 30. Looking to shoot the 162 Amax or 180 berg. Still undecided on weather to make it a repeator or single shot. This probably won't be a hunting gun more just a fun gun to get out and shoot some steal or rocks. So any advice on what stock or barrel I should get I will greatly appreciate it.

Re: 7SAUM build

1:9 is enough for the 180 bergers. Not sure if the 195 bergers will come out before you need to rebarrel. I don't think a 1:9 will stabilize them though. I think one of the palma contours would be good and i dont think any more than 28 is going to gain you a lot... unless you try to go straight up f open with the build. Sounds like you are on the right track. Any of the major barrel makers will be fine, but you do have two of the very best already in mind. I have a T4A on mine and love it. My next rifle will sit in either another T4A or maybe a T2A and i might get the mini chassis also.

Re: 7SAUM build

Is there any benifit to going with a 5R style rifling over a standard 4 grove other than most say it cleans eaiser. Looking at a med palma or Sendaro contour looks to be about right. This is my first so I'm looking and hoping to get most of it right the first time. If that's posible.
