Always see that the 139+ gr 6.5mm bullets say 8+ twist. Is 8.5 ok, getting a DTA 260 barrell.

You are good to go. Don't sweat want those boxes/manufacturers say, they have to be super conservative.

Re: 8.5" twist 260 barrell enough for 140gr bullets

Boots Obermeyer prefers 8.75 twist for the 140-class bullets in 260.

My GAP 260 has an 8.5 Bartlein and works great.

Don't know about a 260, but my son's 6.5 Creedmoor loves both 140 Amax and Berger VLD's @ 2750=2800 fps. It has a Brux 8.5 twist @ 26".

I'd say you will be fine.

Dont worry buddy, i shoot the Berger 140 hybrids outta my 260 DTA SRS 8.5 twist and its super accurate.

Re: 8.5" twist 260 barrell enough for 140gr bullets

Just ordered Berger 140 target vld, Berger 140 hybrid, and hornady 140gr bthp. Gonna test them all if my 260 barrel ever gets here!

I've heard for the money the hornadys shoot just like the Lapua 139. Pretty good for half the price of the others. (If true)

Again, you should have no problem. My 9" twist 260 shoots 140 VLD's great, in fact better than lighter bullets.
