8.59 Titan Lazzeroni

Re: 8.59 Titan Lazzeroni

Great velocity, basically like 338 lapua improved. The problem is bad brass. Some of the brass after being trimmed to correct length weighed as much as 12gr difference. I like the 338 Excaliber. Looks like 338 Lapua improved but the case is about 3 inches long were as the Lapua is 2.72. The titan is 2.8 roughly.
Jamison makes the excal brass.

Re: 8.59 Titan Lazzeroni

I have Dave Bertram at a big bore shoot here in Australia about 2 months ago. Nice guy.

He told me that Jamison had zero quality control, and shipped a lot of stuff that should have went back in the melting pots. I don't know if that is true or not, but I do know that quality brass is getting harder to find.

We were doing some fireforming for a friend of mine's 6mm Dasher and we had 55% split necks on fire forming using Lapua brass.

Oh, the Australia thing. Yep everything here is a pain in the akk.

Good thing I am moving back to America in a couple years. Can't wait, nice shooting ranges here, food is ok mostly, people are nice (but they are idiot drivers), beer is good, women are good looking, and pay is good.

However, 3 bed 2 bath houses are $600,000, a Toyota crew cab little truck in 4x4 is $50,000, and everything shooting wise is double. Anything Gore-Tex or European made is triple.

Re: 8.59 Titan Lazzeroni

I have a custom 1000 yd. bench gun in this caliber. The old brass was made by Bell and was at best hunting grade brass. The newer brass I think is now made by Hornady and is very good brass. My last batch of 7.82 Patriot brass for my light gun is made by Hornaday and is as good as any of the high end brass.
The brass is expensive, but it's low volumn stuff and is QC's both by the maker and again by the Lazzeroni folks. The 8.59 Titan is sort of a .338 Laupa +P+, full length Rigby Case inproved or a .338/.378 but beltless ( case as bit as the belt).
Even in a 28 lb rifle 300 gr. bullets at around 3200 fps kicks like a mule. Use magnum primers, and 7828 is a good powder to play with.
