reloading with 285 gr. bullets 17 gr accurate 1680 federal215 large rifle primers shot 10 0f these 5 flew good but the other 5 went high and tumbling made a sideway hole in target any body got a idea of whats going they are shooting 1100 fps

What is your barrel twist rate? Sounds like it is marginal for that bullet.

What 285gr bullet are you using? The 1-3 twist could be making the jacket start to seperate if it isn't a bonded or monolithic bullet.

f-3 twist bullet are made by gorilla there is no name on them but i think they are maker

got a can on with 30 cal cap think i might have to go with a larger hole maybe creasing the side

If you're shooting through a suppressor and getting keyholes on target...

I would not be shooting an 8.6 which is 338 through a 30 cal can that would be most of your problems right there

You should be shooting ONLY COPPER JACKETED bullets. Sounds like your using lead powder coated bullets a major NO NO with that kind of twist rate. Stop shooting them immediately and pull all of them.

the bulletts are solid copper never said they was lead, hole in cap is .430 thinking ill go with .530 im, not good about sending pictures
