I helped a friend cut his teeth on long range he made his first ever 800m shot and connected several other shots with his 6.5 creedmoor AR-10 despite windy conditions that were pretty tricky shooting across this canyon winds were SSW 18 mph with 30 mph gusts from the west. We were shooting at a 30” X 18” IPSC torso steel target. I did pretty well with my 6.5 Grendel AR-15 landing my cold bore shot only missing 3 shots from a total of 38 rounds fired.

I’ve been shooting my 12” 6.5 Grendel out to 800yds since 2018, all suppressed with TBAC Ultra 5.

It’s very fun. I drop it onto my tripod in a PIG Saddle, and make consistent hits out to 800yds.

That’s at 6300-6600ft elevation in pretty thin air.

I just broke my 1-4x GRSC scope on the last trip shooting at 800yds. Those scopes were discontinued long ago because they were failure-prone, but I love the reticle enough to have rolled the dice with it. I replaced it with a 1-6x LOW Japan scope with the GRSC reticle.

This is one of the ranges where I’ve been stretching it out. There’s a 24”x36” buffalo at 800yds that’s fun to impact. At 400yds, the 12” Grendel hits audibly hard. Very fun, low recoil. I have 22”, 3x 18”, 16”, 12”, and 10.5”. I’ll be taking the 10.5” out once I get it suppressed. I want a higher volume Ti can for it. I have it set up like a HB PDW.
