93r17 Stock Question - Torque

I have a new 93r17 Camo and the barrel does not sit straight in the stock. If looking down at, there is a much larger gap on the left than the right. The barrel does not touch at any place, but it's close enough to want me to try and re-sit the action in to the stock.

What torque should I use when tightening the action screws?

On my Rem 700 with HS Precision stock it's 65 in/lbs. I have no clue what it is for the Savage. The instructions "tighten without indenting the stock" which isn't much help.

Re: 93r17 Stock Question - Torque

i don't know the torque settings, but i have "dented" some stocks along the way. in that case i put the mounting bolts through a same sized (or close) washer to help even out the "clamping" pressure.

i mostly try to even out the gap by pushing the barrel over to make an even gap while tightening, it takes a few tries, but it gets it done with out going the whole nine yards of bedding it.

those savage plastic stocks can be a pain sometimes.
